Characteristics

Corolla 1.8–2.4 cm long, orange to flame-red; buds slightly 4-angular, a little swollen near base, bossed at vents, and with a slight apical swelling 4–5 mm long; tube 9–10 mm long, with V-slit extending halfway, densely covered inside (especially on adnate filament ridges) with lobulate papillae (like bunches of grapes) especially over lower two-thirds (except extreme base); lobes erect, linear-spathulate.

Petiole 3–8 mm long; lamina 3.5–9 × 1.3–4 cm, ovate-lanceolate to ovate-elliptic or ovate, acuminate, basally cuneate or rounded, glabrous, with 6–8 pairs of lateral nerves, the lower 3–4 more ascending.
Stamen filaments extending as an adnate ridge nearly to base of corolla tube, free part tightly coiled; tooth inserted a little below anther, 0.5 mm long; anthers 2–3 mm long.
Flowers 4–12 per umbel; peduncle 3–8 mm long; pedicels 4–8 mm long; bract 2 mm long, ovate-triangular from a shallow cup, ciliolate.
Berry red, 5–7 mm long, narrowly obovoid.
Twigs slightly compressed, glabrous.
Calyx 0.8–1 mm long, ciliolate.
Receptacle 1–2 mm long.
