Characteristics

Spikelets 2.5–3.5 × c. 1.5 mm, ovate-oblong, not compressed, 6–10-flowered, tardily disarticulating, if at all; glumes unequal, narrowly ovate, glabrous, subobtuse at the apex, the inferior 0.8–0.9 mm long, reaching to about the middle of the adjacent lemma, the superior 0.9–1.1 mm long, reaching to beyond the middle of the adjacent lemma; lemmas 1.2–1.3 mm long, dorsally rounded, broadly elliptic, thinly membranous with distinct lateral nerves, somewhat diverging from the rhachilla, those in opposite rows scarcely imbricate, the rhachilla visible between them, greyish-green, thinly pilose on the flanks, obtuse at the apex; palea glabrous on the flanks, the keels slender, wingless, sparsely scabrid, broadly protruding from the sides of the lemma; anthers 2, c. 0.2 mm long.

Panicle 7–13 cm long, elliptic-oblong, open, the spikelets evenly distributed, the branches and branchlets stiff and straight, clearly demarcated from the filiform pedicels, these 8–10 mm long, the primary branches not in whorls, terminating in a slender bristle, the axils of the branchlets and pedicels with a beard of long stiff hairs, eglandular.
