Characteristics

Spikelets 2.8–3.6 × 2–3 mm, ovate, laterally compressed, 4–6-flowered, the florets disarticulating from below upwards, the rhachilla persistent; glumes subequal, 1.7–2.3 mm long, reaching to between 1/2 and 2/3 the way along the adjacent lemmas, keeled, narrowly oblong-lanceolate in profile, scaberulous on the keel and flanks, subacute at the apex; lemmas 2–2.3 mm long, keeled, narrowly elliptic in profile, firmly membranous with distinct lateral nerves, diverging from the rhachilla at 45°, those in opposite rows not imbricate, the rhachilla visible between them, olive-green, densely scaberulous on the nerves and flanks, subacute at the apex; palea deciduous with or soon after the lemma, scaberulous on the flanks, the keels slender, wingless, scabrid; anthers 3, c. 1 mm long.
