Stoloniferous, widely spreading annual, forming dense mats; culms very slender, 5-10 cm. high; blades 1-2 cm. long, flat or becoming loosely involute, stiffly spreading; panicles pale, dense, subcapitate, 1-2 cm. long, nearly as broad; spikelets 5-12 mm. long, few-to many-flowered, on short stiff pedicels; glumes unequal, the first 1 mm. long, the second 1.5 mm. long, broader than the first; lemmas 1.5-2 mm. long, acute, rather broad at the base with thin margins; an-thers 0.2 mm. long.
