Characteristics

Spikelets 5–6 × 2.5–3 mm, ovate, laterally compressed, c. 8-flowered, the florets disarticulating from below upwards, the rhachilla persistent; glumes subequal, 2.6–2.8 mm long, reaching to about 3/4 the way along the adjacent lemmas, keeled, narrowly ovate in profile, glabrous, subacute at the apex; lemmas c. 3 mm long, keeled, ovate-elliptic in profile, firmly membranous with distinct lateral nerves, diverging from the rhachilla at less than 45°, those in opposite rows imbricate and concealing the rhachilla, olive-green, glabrous, obtuse at the apex; palea deciduous with the lemma, glabrous on the flanks, the keels slender, wingless, pubescent; anthers 3, c. 1.5 mm long.

Panicle 2.5–6.5 cm long, linear with appressed racemose branches below, racemose above, the few spikelets on pedicels 2–3 mm long, the primary branches remote, terminating in a fertile spikelet, glabrous in the axils, eglandular.
