Characteristics

Spikelets 0.8–1 × 0.6 mm, ovate, lightly laterally compressed, 3–4-flowered, the florets disarticulating from the apex downwards, the rhachilla fragile; glumes unequal, lightly keeled, narrowly elliptic in profile, glabrous, acute at the apex, the inferior 0.3–0.4 mm long, reaching to the middle of the adjacent lemma, the superior 0.4–0.5 mm long, reaching to or just beyond the middle of the adjacent lemma; lemmas 0.5–0.6 mm long, lightly keeled, elliptic in profile, thinly membranous with distinct lateral nerves, ± appressed to the rhachilla, those in opposite rows scarcely imbricate, the rhachilla visible between them, pallid, glabrous, broadly obtuse at the apex; palea glabrous on the flanks, the keels slender, wingless, smooth and glabrous; anthers 2, c. 0.2 mm long.
