Caespitose perennial without rhizomes or stolons; culms up to 35 cm tall, erect, unbranched, eglandular, the nodes concealed in the leaf sheaths; basal leaf sheaths glabrous, chartaceous, terete or lightly compressed, eglandular, persistent; ligule a line of hairs; leaf laminas 5.5–9.5 cm × 2.5–3.5 mm, linear, flat or loosely involute, thinly and shortly pilose, eglandular.
Panicle 6.5–9 cm long, ovate-oblong, open but with the spikelets condensed about the branchlets on pedicels 0.5–1 mm long, the primary branches not in whorls, terminating in a fertile spikelet, thinly pilose in the axils, eglandular.
Caryopsis not yet seen.
