Characteristics

Spikelets 7.5–9 × 2.5–3 mm, narrowly elliptic-oblong, laterally compressed, 10–13-flowered, the lemmas disarticulating from below upwards, the rhachilla persistent below, becoming fragile above; glumes subequal, 1.5–2 mm long, reaching to the middle of the adjacent lemmas, keeled, lanceolate-oblong in profile, scaberulous on the keel, acute at the apex; lemmas 2.3–3 mm long, keeled, narrowly ovate-elliptic in profile, firmly membranous with indistinct lateral nerves, diverging from the rhachilla at less than 45°, those in opposite rows overlapping and concealing the rhachilla, dark olive-green, glabrous, acute at the apex; palea persistent, glabrous on the flanks, the keels slender, wingless, pubescent; anthers 3, 0.7–0.9 mm long.
