Loosely tufted annual; culms 8–60 cm. high, erect or ascending.. Leaf-blades flat, 4–18 cm. long, 2–8 mm. wide.. Panicle narrowly oblong to ovate, 3–14 cm. long, the spikelets subsessile on the stiff primary branches, these with or without crateriform glands..
