Leaves opposite or subopposite, soon clustered on short shoots, often sparse at flowering time; petiole 2–5 mm. long; lamina oblanceolate to elliptic-obovate or obovate, 1–3 cm. long, 0.5–1.8 cm. wide, cuneate at the base, stellate-pubescent, soon glabrescent, with 3–4 pairs of lateral nerves.. Heads terminal on short shoots, 2–4-flowered; peduncle 5–20 mm. long; bract leafy, oblong-oblanceolate, 10–20 mm. long, 4–10 mm. wide, glabrous except near the base.. Receptacle 1–1.5 mm. long, long white hairy.. Calyx 0.5–1.5 mm. long, similarly hairy.. Corolla 3–4.5 cm. long, yellow flushed orange to red on the tube, subglabrous or early glabrescent except for scattered stellate or wispy hairs; basal swelling 3–5 mm. long; constriction 1–2 mm. long, hairy inside; upper dilated part of tube 6–8 mm. long.. Berry not seen.
