Stems spreading or pendent to 1 m. or so; twigs tomentose with fulvous stellate and shortly dendritic hairs, glabrescent.. Leaf-pairs well spaced; petiole 5–15 mm. long; lamina broadly oblong-elliptic to ovate or subcircular, 3–10.5 cm. long, 3.5–7 cm. wide, cordate at the base, glabrous or nearly so above, fulvous stellate-tomentellous beneath, with 4–7 pairs of obscure lateral nerves.. Heads mostly clustered at old nodes, a few sometimes axillary, (2–)4-flowered; peduncle 2–7(–9) mm. long, tomentose; bract ovate, concave, 3–5 mm. long, occasionally with a small leafy limb, then to 10 mm. long, thinly to densely stellate pubescent..
