Erect shrub entirely glabrous, up to about 60 cm (2 ft). Branches numerous, somewhat crowded, ascending, virgate or flexuous and subdiffuse. Leaves opposite, 4-6 mm long, erect, mostly adpressed, linear to linear-lanceolate, acute, keeled, the floral often subpetaloid. Flowers mostly 2-nate, crowded or clustered, often in dense masses; peduncles 4 mm long; bracts two, median, 6 mm long, ovate or spathulate, scarious, coloured. Sepals 8-10 mm long, ovate to broad-ovate or orbicular, keel-tipped, scarious, coloured. Corolla 1.0-1.2 cm long, tubular-inflated, slightly contracted at the throat, dry, rosy; lobes 1/3-3/8 the length of the tube, ovate, acuminate, stellato-patent at first. Anthers included, about long, lateral, oblong-cuneate, appendiculate; pore 1/3 the length of the cell; crests fixed high above the base, ovate-acuminate, more than 1/3 the length of the cell. Ovary cylindrical; style included; stigma capitellate.
