Characteristics

Erect shrub up to 30 cm (1 ft) or so. Branches ascending, lanate. Leaves 3-nate, 3-4 mm long, linear-oblong, obtuse, upright to spreading and incurved, sulcate, more or less imbricate, densely woolly below, the older rough. Flowers terminal, 1-to 3-nate; peduncles 5-7 mm long, lanate; bracts variably placed, small, lanate. Sepals about as long as the corolla tube, ovate or orbicular, densely lanate with green hairs, turning yellow with age. Corolla 4-5 mm long, globose-urceolate, dry, pilose, creamy; lobes recurved, obtuse, as long as the tube. Filaments broader than others in this section; anthers manifest, about 2 mm long, oblong-obtuse or semiovate and acute, dorsally bearded, muticous; pore about 1/2 the length of the cell. Ovary globose, villous, chiefly on top; style shortly exserted; stigma capitellate.
