Erect, compact or sparse shrub with flexuous branches up to 30 cm (1 ft) or so in length, with all parts more or less viscid and, except the corolla, more or less glandular-hairy. leaves 4-nate, 2-3 mm long, spreading, rather distant, linear to ovate, thick, sulcate or subopen-backed, roughly hispidulous, ciliate with long gland-tipped hairs, dark green. Flowers in small, dense, sticky clusters of up to 20; peduncles 2-3 mm long; bracts approximate, longer and wider than the sepals and pressed to them, foliaceous. Sepals 2-2.5 mm long, filiform from the base gradually widened and thickened upwards, clavate-obtuse at the top. Corolla 3 mm long, urceolate, only slightly contracted at the throat, glabrous, dull red; lobes suberect, obtuse, about 1/4 the length of the tube. Filaments capillary; anthers included 0.5 mm long, lateral, broad-oblong, very obtuse, truncate at the base, appendiculate; pore 2/3-3/4 the length of the tube; crests ovate, incised at the base with a terminal subulate lobe, the whole about as long as the cell. Ovary subovoid on a wide disc, glabrous; style included; stigma capitate.
