Erect, entirely glabrous, 1-2 ft. high; branches slender, 4-sulcate from the long prominent decurrent leaf-cushions; leaves 4-nate, spreading or reflexed, crowded or distant, linear, acuminate, sulcate, aristate, 6-11 lin. long; flowers capitate, corolline; heads 6-20-flowered; pedicels about 1 lin. long; bracts approximate, lanceolate, a little longer than the sepals; sepals lanceolate, acute, about 1/2 lin. long, coloured; corolla subglobose-urceolate, constricted at the throat, white (Andrews), 1 1/2-1 3/4 lin. long; segments short, broad, rounded, revolute, 1/6-1/5 as long as the tube; anthers exserted or subexserted, narrow-elliptical, subobtuse, acute at the base, smooth, pale brown, about 2/7 lin. long, muticous; pore 3/5 as long as the cell; seeds foveolate, the pits oblong.

Erect, dwarf shrub or shrublet, 0.3-0.7(-1.0) m high, entirely glabrous. Leaves 4-nate, spreading or reflexed, crowded and distant, 12.6-23.1 mm long, linear, acuminate, sulcate, aristate. Flowers capitate, coralline; heads 6-20-flowered; pedicels ± 2 mm long; bracts approximate, lanceolate, a little longer than sepals. Calyx sepals lanceolate, acute, ± 1 mm long. Corolla subglobose-urceolate, constricted at throat, white, 3.15-3.70 mm long, slightly sticky; lobes short, broad, rounded, revolute, 1/6-1/5 as long as tube. Anthers exserted or subexserted, narrowly elliptic, subobtuse, acute at base, smooth, pale brown, ± 0.6 mm long, muticous; pore 3/5 as long as theca. Ovary glabrous; style exserted. Flowering time Jan.-Apr.
