Characteristics

Branches erect, rigid, the younger tomentose; leaves 3-nate, erect-spreading, incurved, oblong, sulcate, obtuse, naked above, below furnished with 2 rows of rigid tuborculate-setose hairs, 2-2 1/2 lin. long; flowers subumbellate; pedicels stout, pubescent, about 1 lin. long; bracts approximate, one large almost exactly like the leaves, the two smaller like the sepals; sepals small, narrow-ovate, acute, pubescent, cillate, 1/2 lin. long; corolla urceolate, mouth slightly contracted, coarsely and rigidly pubescent, of thick and tough texture, 2-2 1/2 lin. long; limb small; segments spreading or recurved, rounded; filaments narrow, nearly equal, slightly bent; anthers included or subincluded, laterally basifixed, oblong, subobtuse, slightly curved, muticous; pore about 1/2 the length of the cell, 1/2 lin. long; style exserted; stigma capitate; ovary pubescent.
