Branches ascending, pubescent, rigid, 6-8 in. high; leaves 3-nate or 'scattered' (acc. to Bentham), erect-spreading, imbricate, linear or somewhat semiterete, obtuse, margins somewhat thickened, the younger gland-ciliate, 1-2 lin. long; pedicels 1-1 1/2 lin. long; bracts approximate, sepal-like but smaller; sepals ovate-lanceolate, obtusely acuminate, with a thickened marginal line on either side, converging upwards to the apex, instead of the usual median keel, cartilaginous, thick, viscid, very rigid, 1 1/2 lin. long, not reaching to the top of the corolla; corolla cyathiform or hemispherical, minutely puberulous, 'viscid' (acc. to Bentham), 1 1/2 lin. long, somewhat greater in width; anthers terminal, very narrow-elliptical, acute, tapering at either end; cells deeply partite and somewhat distant, membranous, smooth, pale brown, about 7/8 lin. long; pore about 1/2 the length of the cell; ovary minutely puberulous.
