Characteristics

Erect, slender, diffuse shrub up to about 60 cm (2 ft). Branches numerous, pubescent, red when young. leaves 4-nate, 5-6 mm long, spreading-incurved, imbricate, linear, faintly sulcate, more or less pubescent. Flowers 1-to 4-nate on short branchlets; peduncles very short, red with white pubescence; bracts minute, remote. Sepals 2 mm long, linear from an ovate, ciliate, scarious base, acuminate, foliaceous above. Corolla 6-7.5 mm long, tubular, pubescent, rose-pink; lobes erect, short, subacute, paler. Filaments filiform; anthers included, 0.8 mm long, lateral, oblong, obtuse, slightly prognathous at the base, muticous; pore about 1/2 the length of the cell. Ovary oblong, glabrous; style included or manifest; stigma capitellate.
