Dwarf, rigid, depressed, glabrous shrublet. Branches stout, brittle and tortuous. Leaves 3-nate, occasionally 4-nate on the same plant, 6-8 mm long, oblong or lanceolate, spreading, keeled and faintly sulcate, leathery, rigid, pallid. Flowers 1-to 3-nate, calycine or subcorolline at full maturity; peduncles 2-2. long; bracts median, scarious. Sepals 3.5-4 mm long, oblong or lanceolate, acuminate, keeled, scarious, white, mostly as long as the corolla-tube. Corolla 4-5 mm long, cyathiform or subcampanulate, 4-angled at the base, white; lobes erect to subspreading, obtuse, 1/3-1/2 the length of the tube. Filaments broadish; anthers included, 1 mm long, lateral, oblong-cuneate, appendiculate; pore 1/3 the length of the cell; awns about 1/2 the length of the cell, sometimes subcristate. Ovary subglobose, glabrous; style exserted; stigma capitate.
