Erect, dense shrub, 0.1-1.0 m high, resprouting. Leaves 3-nate, suberect and imbricate, 2-10 mm long, linear or narrowly lanceolate, glabrous or viscid-puberulous, glossy. Calyx sepals ovate-lanceolate, acute or acuminate, keel-tipped, scarious, apex attenuate. Flowers (1-)3-nate at ends of leafy side branches. Corolla 18.9-25.2 mm long, clavate-tubular or trumpet-shaped, glabrous, often viscid, sometimes dry, pink to dark red; lobes erect or slightly spreading, pale red, yellowish or greenish to totally green. Anthers included or manifest with long, thin, pendulous appendages, ± 2/3 length of thecae, sometimes prognathous (curved forward) at base. Ovary 4-locular, slightly emarginate, glabrous; style curved at apex, included. Flowering time all year.
