Erect shrub up to 45 cm (1 1/2 ft) or so. Branches slender, glabrous or puberulous with gland-tipped hairs. Leaves 3-nate, 8-14 mm long, erect-spreading or squarrose-recurved, usually distant and shorter than the internodes, linear, subterete, sulcate, ciliate and with long stiff glandular hairs. Flowers in umbels; peduncles 8-16 mm long, slender, striate, viscid; bracts remote, 2 mm long. Sepals 4-6 mm long, linear to lanceolate, subacute, keel-tipped, tipped with a glandular bristle, margins involute, gland-ciliate and viscid, polished. Corolla about 1.25 cm long, tubular, inflated above, laterally compressed, constricted at the throat, puberulous; lobes short, broad, recurved. Anthers exserted, 3-6 mm long, cohering in a conical tube round the style, lateral, linear, appendiculate; pore small; awns very slender, of variable length. Ovary cylindrical, glabrous or pilose near the top; style exserted; stigma capitate.
