Shrub or dense dwarf shrub, 0.5-1.0 m high, sometimes forming mats. Branches slender, straggling, hairy. Leaves ± recurved, covered in long hairs, spreading at right angles to stems, 4-nate; blade subrecurved, squarrose, elliptical or oblong, thick, sulcate, margins rough with tubercle-based glandular hairs, rarely subnaked and glossy, 1.5-3.0 mm long. Flowers: sub-4-nate or umbellate (4-or 5-flowered); terminal; pedicels viscid, ± 2 mm long; bracts 3, subapproximate, glandular-ciliate, small; anthers included, smooth, > 0.5 mm long, aristate with appendages; style included; stigma subsimple; ovary pubescent; calyx broad to narrowly ovate, acute, scarious, coloured, viscid, keel-tipped and gland-ciliate near apex, ± 1.5 mm long, corolla urn-or egg-to urn-shaped, gradually contracted towards mouth and well constricted at throat, 2.5-3.5 mm long, sticky, glabrous or rarely very minutely hairy, white, often pink or seldom deep red, rosy and whitish; Sep.-Feb.

Corolla 2.1-3.7 mm long, urceolate or ovoid-urceolate, viscid, glabrous, white often pink; lobes spreading, short, ± 1/5 length of tube. Anthers included, dorsifixed above base, subcuneate, obtuse, or subnarrowly ovate, glabrous, smooth, more than 0.5 mm long, aristate; pore nearly 1/2 length of theca; appendages rough, spreading, ± 2/3 length of theca.
