Erect, low-spreading, bushy shrublet up to 20 cm (8 in) or so. Branches puberulous, leaves 4-6 mm long, 3-nate, spreading or reflexed, linear-trigonous, glabrous. Flowers 3-nate, sub-calycine, rather few; peduncles very short; bracts approximate, scarious, small. Sepals 3 mm long, broad-lanceolate, concave, scarious, white, reaching somewhat over 1/2 the length of the corolla. Corolla 4-5 mm long, tubular, somewhat inflated, glabrous, dry, white or pale yellow; lobes from an oblong, ciliate base dilated above to a cordate-lanceolate acuminate, dark brown tip, about 4/5 the length of the tube. Filaments capillary; anthers included, 1 mm long, lateral, narrow-elliptic, acute, minutely hirsute, pale brown, muticous; pore 2/3 the length of the cell. Ovary oblong, glabrous; style exserted, dilated at the apex; stigma simple.
