Characteristics

Erect shrub, 0.4-1.5 m high, laxly branched, single-or multi-stemmed, all parts, except corolla and internal floral parts, ± covered with gland-tipped hairs. Leaves (3)4-nate, 3-10 mm long, spreading, on short branches, imbricate, obtuse, sulcate or widely to narrowly open-backed. Flowers (2-)4(5)-nate. Calyx sepals foliaceous but acute. Corolla 10-30 mm long, clavate-tubular, obconic to campanulate, suboblique (curved), glabrous, dry or glandular-viscid, pink to orange; lobes pink, red, yellowish or white, sometimes translucent; lobes short, erect, obtuse. Filaments slender, slightly dilated at base; anthers included or manifest, ± 1.5-2.0 mm long, oblong, prognathous at base, decurrent-denticulate, muticous. Ovary oblong turbinate or depressed-globose; style exserted; stigma capitellate. Flowering time all year.
