Characteristics

Dwarf, decumbent shrub, the younger plants erect. Branches spreading, roughly hispid. Leaves 4-nate, 4-6 mm long, spreading or spreading-incurved, broad-linear to lanceolate-oblong, sulcate, flat, glabrous above, setose-ciliate on the margins and on the edges of the fold, the floral longer, broader and coloured, enwrapping the flower heads. Flowers capitate in heads of four; peduncles 2 mm long, glabrous; bracts approximate, 6 mm long, lanceolate, setose-ciliate, coloured. Sepals 4 mm long, obovate-linear, keeled and sulcate above, glabrous, setose-ciliate, coloured. Corolla 2-4 mm long, urceolate-campanulate, viscid, puberulous, white or pink; lobes erect, obtuse, about as long as the tube. Filaments linear, narrow, dilated and thickened below the anther; anthers subexserted, 1.4 mm long, terminal, semiovate, tapering below into the filaments, scabrid, appendiculate; crests entirely adnate to the filaments below the base of the cells, narrow, incised, scabrid. Ovary ovoid, minutely puberulous; style exserted; stigma capitellate.
