Erect shrub, up to 60 cm (2 ft) or so. Branches numerous, ascending, often dense, pubescent with short, barbellate hairs. Leaves 3-nate, 2-3 mm long, erect to spreading, not or scarcely imbricate, linear-trigonous or linear-lanceolate, sulcate, glabrous. Flowers 3-nate, terminal, often crowded in dense masses, calycine or subcalycine; peduncles less than 2 mm long, glabrous; bracts median, sepal-like. Sepals under 2 mm long, narrow-ovate, keel-tipped, cartilaginous, margin scarious, pallid, glabrous. Corolla 2-2.75 mm long, obconic, glabrous, dry, pale yellow; lobes continuous, obtuse, equal to or a little longer than the tube. Filaments slender; anthers manifest to Iong-exserted, about 1 mm long, oblong, deeply partite and divaricate, membranous, pale yellow, muticous; pore about 1/4 the length of the cell. Ovary globose, minutely puberulous, chiefly on the summit; style included or just manifest; stigma capitate.
