Characteristics

Slender and diffuse shrublet amongst marsh vegetation or upright and less diffuse where growing alone and up to 75 cm in height (2 1/2 ft). Branches flexuous, glabrous or pubescent, heaves 3-nate, 3-4 mm long, erect to spreading, recurved, trigonous, puberulous, ciliate. Flowers solitary or in pairs, terminal; peduncles imm long, pubescent; bracts median, small, ciliate. Sepals imm long, broad-ovate, slightly acute, ciliate. Corolla 2.5 mm long, broadly campanulate, slightly constricted near the base, pubescent, cream to almost white when not exposed to the sun, pale rose to red in the sun; lobes continuous, acute. Anthers included, 0.25 mm long, lateral, cuneate-oblong, muticous. Ovary depressed-globose, glabrous; style included; stigma small, simple.
