Erect, shrub up to 90 cm (3 ft), entirely glabrous with numerous, rather slender branches. Leaves opposite in pairs, 2-6 mm long, more or less adpressed, linear, acute, concave above, faintly sulcate, keeled. Flowers 2-to 4-nate, terminal, often clustered, very numerous; peduncles 2-3 mm long; bracts 2 mm long or less, two median with, more rarely, a third basal. Sepals 2.5-3.5 mm long, broad-lanceolate, broad-ovate or obovate, keel-tipped scarious. Corolla 7-8 mm long, conical, tapering to a narrow throat, dry, yellow or white; lobes stellately spreading, acute, 1/3-2/5 the length of the tube. Anthers included, about 0.5 mm long, lateral, oblong, obtuse, pallid, appendiculate; pore under 1/2 the length of the cell; crests small, narrow, subentire, spreading horizontally, curved, less than 1/3 the length of the cell. Ovary cylindrical, lobed; style included; stigma capitellate.
