Characteristics

Leaves in whorls of 4, patent, narrowly ovate, acute, 1·5–6 mm. long, 0·4–2·0 mm. wide, the margins normally slightly revolute but sometimes more strongly reflexed, dorsal surface with a pubescence, often rather sparse, of very short simple hairs, distant glandular cilia along the apparent margin of the leaf and at the apex; petioles c. 0·5 mm. long, pubescent.

Calyx segments fused at the base only, narrowly triangular, acute, margins reflexed in the upper part, pubescent with short simple hairs and occasional glandular hairs, c. 1·5 mm. long.
Bract and bracteoles leaf–like, bract 1·2–1·5 mm. long, insertedd at 1/3–1/2 of the pedicel from its base, bracteoles 0·8–1·0 mm. long, insertedd 1·0–1·5 mm. below the calyx.
Branchlets slender, the finest 0·2–0·3 mm. diameter, without infrafoliar ridges, pubescent with very short simple hairs c. 0·05 mm. long and longer simple glandular hairs.
Corolla urceolate–campanulate, pink to white, glabrous, 2·5–3·0 mm. long, 2·0–2·5 mm. broad, lobes obtuse to rounded, sinuses broadly acute, c. 0·5 mm. deep.
Ovary globose, pubescent, c. 0·8 mm. diam.; style glabrous, 3–5 mm. long, stigma capitate, small.
Stamens 7–8, exserted, filaments c. 3·0 mm. long, anthers c. 1·0 mm. long, without appendages.
Flowers in groups of 4–8 at the tips of the branchlets, rather sparse.
A straggling, much branched sub–shrub, the stems up to 80 cm. long.
Pedicels 4–6 mm. long, glandular pubescent.
