Characteristics

Erect shrub up to 90 cm (3 ft), sometimes more. Branches white-pubescent. Leaves 3-nate, 3-4 mm long, erect-spreading, imbricate, linear, slender, blunt, sulcate, becoming glabrous. Flowers 3-nate, numerous; peduncles 3-5 mm long, pubescent; bracts variably placed from approximate to median, foliaceous. Sepals 1.3-2.7 mm long, broadish-to narrow-lanceolate, subacute, sometimes foliaceous, greenish and dry, sometimes subs carious, coloured and slightly viscid. Corolla 3.5-4.5 mm long, urceolate, with mouth very slightly contracted, or ovoid with a narrower mouth, glabrous, white or rosy; lobes erect, 1/5 the length of the tube, obtuse. Anthers subexserted, about 1 mm long, subterminal or sometimes strictly terminal, suboblong or oblong-obovatc, dorsally curved, very obtuse, muticous or minutely toothed on the cell above the base in front or with a simple projecting tooth between the cells at their base; pore 1/3-2/5 of the length of the cell. Ovary hispid-puberulous; style exserted; stigma davate-capitellate, small.

Erect shrub, 0.9-1.5 m high. Leaves 3(4)-nate, erect-spreading, 3.0-6.3 mm long, linear-filiform, glandular-ciliolate, scabrid, imbricate, apex blunt, sulcate, becoming glabrous. Flowers terminal, 3-nate, cernuous, many. Calyx sepals 1.3-2.7 mm long, ovate, acuminate, keel-tipped, foliaceous, pubescent, dry, sometimes subscarious, slightly viscid. Corolla 3.7-5.3 mm long, urceolate, viscid, white or rosy pink; lobes erect, 1/7-1/5 of length of tube, obtuse. Ovary pubescent, seated on a largish dark-coloured disk; style slender, exserted; stigma clavate-capitellate to capitellate, small. Flowering time June-Dec.
