Characteristics

Erect, resprouting, dwarf shrub, 0.2-0.6 m high. Leaves verticillate, 6-7 mm long, linear, erect, flat on upper side, sulcate below, glabrous but when young minutely ciliate. Flowers 3-nate, clustered on apex of branches; pedicels 2-3 mm long, pubescent; bracts obovate, like sepals but wider and imbricate. Calyx prominent, 3 mm long; lobes obovate, keeled, ciliate, scarious, white flushed pink. Corolla 4-5 mm long, urceolate to suburceolate; lobes short and not curved, pink. Anthers exserted; appendages prominent tail-like appendages. Ovary glabrous; style exserted; stigma subpeltate. Flowering time Mar.-Dec.
