Characteristics

Erect shrub up to 60 cm (2 ft) or so. Branches ascending, often straggling, tomentose and gland-pilose. Leaves 4-nate, 4-6 mm long, squarrose, narrow-oblong or, the shorter subovate, open-backed, obtuse, gland-pilose. Flowers umbellate, 4-to 12-flowered; peduncles 4-6 mm long and, like the bracts and sepals, gland-pilose; bracts remote. Sepals about 2 mm long, lanceolate-oblong, pubescent and gland-ciliate with long hairs. Corolla about 3 mm long, oblong or cyathiform-campanulate, mouth not contracted, pubescent, dry, pearly-white; lobes more than half as long as the tube, spreading, obtuse. Anthers manifest, imm long, bipartite, oblong, narrowed to the base, subterminal, minutely aristate, or muticous or sometimes with a minute tooth on either side of the filament at its base; pore about 1/2 the length of the cell. Ovary globose, lanate; style exserted; stigma clavate-capitate.
