Low, procumbent or prostrate shrub growing in rock crevices. Branches sometimes tufted and matted, sometimes more straggling, shortly gland-hispid. Leaves 3-nate, 3-4 mm long, spreading, crowded, ovate, open-backed, appearing inflated or bladder-like on account of the recurved margins, glabrous, ciliate with many long, spreading, white hairs, longer than the leaf itself. Flowers terminal, 3-nate; peduncles about 2 mm long, glabrous; bracts approximate, one about 1.5 mm long, spathulate, ciliate with short gland-tipped hairs and long white hairs admixed, two much smaller and with fewer long hairs. Sepals about 2 mm long, lanceolate, more or less sulcate-keeled, subscarious, viscid, ciliate with short gland-tipped hairs and with about 3 long white hairs at the apex. Corolla 3 mm long, broad-cyathiform, the mouth widened, glabrous, dry; lobes erect, a little shorter than the tube. Anthers included, 0.3 mm long, dorsifixed close to the base, cuneate-ovate, bipartite, pale brown, diaphanous, appendiculate; pore 1/3 the length of the cell; awns decumbent for about 1/2 their length on the dilated connective, the free parts probably deciduous, and being about i the total length, or reduced to mere points or absent giving the anther the appearance of being muticous. Ovary globose, glabrous; style included short; stigma capitellate.
