Characteristics

Dwarf shrub with grey-green fluffy appearance due to fine hairs on tightly packed leaves, up to 0.5 m high. Branches: decumbent and procumbent; hairy. Leaves 4-nate; blade pointed with broad base, almost as long as corolla, densely covered with long ciliate and glandular hairs. Flowers: in dense clusters at tips of stems or side-branches; pedicels up to 1 mm long, hairy or not; bracts 3; anthers with appendages; ovary with short pubescent hairs, style included; calyx hairy, calyx and corolla with 4 segments; corolla urn-shaped, 1-5 mm, glabrous, pink, purple or white; Jan.-Mar.
