Characteristics

Erect bushy shrub up to 1 m tall. Branchlets brownish-yellow, densely floccose with dendroid hairs, many hairs forked at apex. Leaves 4-nate, 3-8 mm long, erect to spreading, imbricate, lanceolate, acute, 'open-backed', margin revolute, lower surface white, covered with small papillae, upper surface shining bright green with scattered simple and forked hairs, some merely small protuberances, occasionally some dendroid hairs towards base of leaf, otherwise glabrous, petiole pale yellow, 0.8 mm long, slightly enlarged at base, adpressed, occasionally with short dendroid or simple cilia, otherwise glabrous. Inflorescence small racemose at the ends of side shoots; pedicel slightly cernuous 3-4 mm long, pink to red, floccose with short simple hairs and longer white dendroid hairs usually forked at apex; bracteoles 2, subopposite, median, hyaline, white shading to pink, texture similar to petals and sepals, narrow, swollen towards apex terminating in a dendroid or a forked hair, margin with short simple and longer dendroid hairs. Calyx white shading to pink, 1.5 mm long, less than half length of corolla; tube 0.5 mm long; lobes 1 mm long, apex sulcate, ciliate with forked and dendroid hairs. Corolla cyathiform 2.5 mm x 1.8 mm white shaded pink; lobes 0.5 mm long, 1 mm broad across base. Stamens free; filaments linear, following curve of nectary and ovary, sigmoid at apex, 1.5 mm long when straightened; anthers manifest, subterminal, 0.8 mm long, oval; pore approximately half length of cell; awns short, 0.2 mm long with short, sharp pointed hairs. Ovary 0.7 mm long, glabrous, stipitate, 4-celled with numerous ovules; nectaries at base large, 0.6 mm long, stalk between nectaries and ovary 0.3 mm long; style exserted; stigma subcapitate.
