Leaves 3-nate, suberect imbricate when young to spreading, 5.0 x 1.2 mm, elliptic to lanceolate with sharp edges, acute, glabrous, sparsely ciliolate; petiole about 0.5 mm long, appressed, ciliolate. Inflorescences restricted to apex of main shoots, of two types, 9-flowered at ends of main shoots in a pseudo-umbel with pherophylls not recaulescent and, not always present, 2-flowered on very short side shoots in axils of lower leaves with pherophylls recaulescent; pedicel 5.2 mm long, recurved, puberulous; eutopic (normally subtending) pherophyll frondose, up to 4 mm long in main inflorescence or bracteose recaulescent up to the middle, smaller up to 0.3 mm long, lanceolate, pink in lateral inflorescences; bracteoles in the middle of the pedicel, 1.5 mm long, lanceolate, pink, edged with minute glands and hairs. Calyx 4-lobed, fused at base only, appressed, 2.5 x 1 mm, lobes lanceolate, pink, edged with a few minute nonsticky glandlike bodies. Corolla 4-lobed, 4.0 x 3.2 mm, obconical, smooth, white to pale pink with dark pink to reddish lobes, becoming brownish red with age; lobes 1/2 length of corolla, acute to rounded, erect. Stamens 8, included, free; filaments ca. 1.8 mm long, narrowly oblong, slightly bent; anthers 1 mm long, ovate in outline, dorsally attached, light brown, papillate basally and apically, muticous; pore 2/3 length of theca; pollen in tetrads. Ovary 4-locular, 1.8 x 1.8 mm, broadly ovoid and flat apically, puberulous on upper half, no nectary glands; placenta in upper 2/3 of locule; ovules 10 per locule, pendulous; style 4.5 mm long, straight; stigma included becoming exserted in older flowers, capitellate often with 4 spreading stigmatic processes. Capsule obovoid-cyathiform, 2 x 2 mm, remaining on plant for more than one year, septa with lower 25 % attached to central axis; seeds variable in shape mostly angularly ellipsoid-ovoid, with several flattened sides, very shallowly foveolate, light brown.
