Erect, 1-1 1/2 ft. high, with the habit of the preceding; leaves 4-nate, suberect, imbricate, linear-lanceolate, subobtuse, deeply sulcate or somewhat open-backed, rigidly hispid and pectinate-ciliate, 2-3 lin. long; flowers 4-nate on short branchlets, cernuous; pedicels about 1 lin. long; bracts approximate, lanceolate, hispid and ciliate like the leaves, paler and more naked below, about 2 lin. long; sepals like the bracts but linear-lanceolate, 3 lin. long; corolla tubular, inflated about the middle, densely hispid with long coarse setose yellow hairs, yellow or greenish-yellow, 1/2-3/4 in. long; segments erect, deltoid, subacute; anthers included, oblong, 1 lin. long, muticous; style exserted; ovary obconic, villous with white silky hairs.
Erect, sparse shrub, 0.4-1.0 m high. Leaves 4-nate, 4-6 mm long, suberect, ± imbricate, linear-lanceolate, subobtuse, deeply sulcate or open-backed, rigidly hispid and pectinate-ciliate. Flowers 4-nate, terminal on short branchlets, cernuous. Calyx sepals 6 mm long, like bracts but linear-lanceolate. Corolla up to 20 mm long, tubular, inflated to ± middle, densely hispid with long, coarse, setose, yellow hairs, yellow or greenish yellow; lobes ± 2 mm long, erect or incurved, deltoid, subacute. Anthers included, 2 mm long, lateral, oblong, muticous; pore ± 1.8 mm long. Ovary obconic, villous with white, silky hairs; styles included or manifest; stigma capitate, large. Flowering time all year.
