Erect shrub up to 60 cm (2 ft) or so. Branches numerous, straight, pallid, channelled with prominent leaf-scars, pubescent. Leaves 3-nate, 8-12 mm long, spreading, the older widely so, imbricate, linear-trigonous, sulcate, glabrous. Flowers umbellately clustered with, occasionally, a few axillary, calycine; peduncles 3-4 mm long, pubescent or glabrous; bracts 8 mm long, two median, one basal or wanting, oblanceolate, scarious, coloured. Sepals 5-9 mm long, ovate or obovate, acute, keel-tipped, scarious, mucronate, coloured. Corolla 6-9 mm long, ovoid-urceolate, dry, glabrous, white below, rose above; lobes a little less than 1/2 the length of the tube, spreading, subacute, darker-coloured and later turning brown and connivent. Anthers included, 0.8 mm long, lateral, narrow-elliptical, obtuse at both ends, smooth, appendiculate; pore less than 1/2 the length of the cell; awns about 1/3 the length of the cell, subulate. Ovary turbinate, or depressed-globose, glabrous; style included, stigma capitate.
