Diffuse shrublet, often straggling and matted, up to 30 cm (1 ft) high. Branches puberulous and sparsely pilose, glabrescent. Leaves 3-nate, 2-4 mm long, linear-lanceolate to ovate, open-backed, spreading, scarcely imbricate, sparsely glandular-hairy and ciliate. Flowers 3-nate terminal, sometimes also axillary; peduncles 4 mm long, pilose; bracts two, sometimes three, remote. Sepals 2 mm long, lanceolate, foliaccous, long glandular-ciliate. Corolla 4 mm long, urceolate-campanulate or tubular-campanulate, dry, glabrous, rosy. Filaments much dilated at the base, tapering upwards; anthers manifest, 1.2 mm long, lateral, oblong, appendiculate; pore 1/3 of cell in length; awns small, shortly ciliate. Ovary depressed-globose, pubescent; style exsetted, slender; stigma capitellate.
