Characteristics

Erect, sparingly branched shrub up to 1 m (3 1/2 ft) high, with a long bare stem terminating in leafy, straggling, minutely puberulous branches. Leaves 3-to 4-nate, 4-7 mm long, slender, narrowly oval, keeled, glabrous. Flowers 3-to 4-nate, terminal, cernuous; peduncles 8-11 mm long, viscidulous, with small remote bracts. Sepals 3-4 mm long, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, glabrous, viscid, thick with dark-green keeled tips. Corolla 0.8-1.3 mm long, ovoid-inflated, constricted at the throat, very viscid, glabrous, pale green; lobes erect, connivent. Anthers included, about 2 mm long, lateral, oblong, subacute, glabrous, appendiculate; pore about 3/5 the length of the cell; crests about 1/2 the length of the cell, semi-orbicular and crenulate at the base with a long terminal, linear, spreading lobe. Ovary turbinate, glabrous; style included or manifest; stigma capitellate.
