Erect shrub up to 90 cm (3 ft) or so. Branches virgate, minutely pubescent. Leaves 6-nate, 1.25-3.3 cm long and barely 0.5 mm wide, erect to spreading, crowded, slender, linear-subtrigonous, acute to aristate, glabrous, the younger ciliate; petioles 3-4 mm long and 1/6 mm wide, capillary, pallid. Flowers axillary, in pseudo-spikes near the ends of the branches; peduncles 3-8 mm long, glabrous; bracts median, foliaceous. Sepals 8-10 mm long, foliaceous, linear from an ovate base, scarious, more or less shortly ciliate. Corolla 1.7-2.5 cm long, clavate-tubular, straight or curved, more or less pubescent, dry, white, yellow, rosy or crimson; lobes short, erect or slightly spreading, obtuse. Filaments slender; anthers included, manifest or rarely exserted, 3-4 mm long, lateral, oblong, more or less curved, muticous or decurrent-denticulate on the filament; pore about 1/2 the length of the cell. Ovary turbinate, deeply lobed, villous above, usually glabrous below; style exserted; stigma capitate.
