Characteristics

Leaves in whorls of 3, ascending to appressed, narrowly ovate, acute, 0·8–3·5 mm. long, 0·5–1·0 mm. broad, the reflexed margins nearly or quite meeting along the mid line at the back of the leaf, upper surface of the leaf, including the reflexed part, densely pubescent with short simple hairs c. 0·05 mm. long, and a few longer hairs, 0·2–0·3 mm. long, on the apparent margin of the leaf with glandular, or forked, or simple tips; petioles 0·3 mm. long, puberulent.

Branchlets slender, the finest 0·15–0·25 mm. diameter, infrafoliar ridges present but poorly developed, pubescent with short simple hairs less than 0·1 mm. long and sometimes also much sparser longer hairs, usually with side branches near the base, the tips glandular, or forked, or simple.
Sepals fused at the base only, narrow, linear, obtuse, purplish, c. 1·5 mm. long, pubescent with short simple hairs, margins ciliate, cilia glandular or not, eglandular ones sometimes forked.
Corolla urceolate to urceolate–campanulate, glabrous, mauve to deep pink to pale pink, 3–5·5 mm. long, 2·0–3·5 mm. broad, lobes rounded, sinuses acute, about 0·5 mm. deep.
Bract and bracteoles insertedd high on the pedicel, narrow, linear, obtuse, purplish, pubescence as on leaves, bract 1·2–1·5 mm. long, bracteoles slightly shorter.
Stamens 8; filaments straight, 2·5–5 mm. long; anthers 1·0 mm., semi–exserted, very shortly pubescent, with broad aristate pubescent appendages c. 0·4 mm. long.
Ovary globose, glabrous, c. 1·0 mm. diameter, style glabrous, exceeding corolla by c. 1·5 mm., stigma capitate.
Pedicels 1·3–3·0 mm. long, pubescent with short simple hairs and sometimes scattered longer glandular hairs.
A branched prostrate to trailing sub–shrub not reaching more than c. 25 cm. tall.
Flowers in clusters of 3–6 on the side branches.
