Cultivation

Origin: at Univ. of Florida Subtropical Expt. Sta., Homestead. Described in 1965 by Carl W. Campbell. Open-pollinated seedling of Advance; planted in 1936 by H.S. Wolfe of Homestead station; tested as Fla. SES 4. Tree: up to 9 m tall; dense, upright canopy. Fruit: up to 5.5 cm long and 3.2 cm in diam.; obovoid to slightly pyriform; skin yellow, resistant to bruising; flesh pale yellow, thick, juicy, firm; flavor excellent; one to three seeds; ripens March through April in Florida, several days later than Oliver; suitable for all purposes.
