Characteristics

Leaves up to 15 cm. long; petiole c. 3 mm. long (but lowest pair of leaflets often caducous); leaflets 3–4-jugate; petiolules 2–6 mm. long, thickened, fulvous-tomentose; leaflet-lamina up to 30 × 11 cm. (Holmes 1166), oblong-elliptic, chartaceous, glandular-pubescent on the midrib above, sparsely pubescent on the midrib below, with tufts of hairs on the under surface in the axils of the lateral nerves, otherwise glabrous, apex usually acuminate, margin entire, base obtuse to rounded; lateral nerves 11–13 pairs.

Stamens with pilose filaments 4 mm. long; anthers 1·3 mm. in diam., subcircular in outline; staminodes with glabrous filaments 1 mm. long in female flowers.
Ovary fulvous-pilose; style 4 mm. long, nearly glabrous; pistillode 1 × 1 mm., 3-gonous, tomentose, in male flowers.
Inflorescence a fulvous-tomentose terminal or axillary paniculate or racemoid thyrse up to 20 cm. long.
Slender tree up to c. 10. m. tall; bark smooth, grey; branchlets fulvous-tomentose.
Flowers whitish, sweetly scented; pedicels 2–4·5 mm. long, pubescent.
Petals 6 × 2 mm., narrowly ovate-triangular, pilose.

Fruit 1–1·5 × 1·5–2 cm., glabrescent when ripe.
