Leaflets (1)3, rarely the leaf nearest the rootstock 1-foliolate, 4–8.5 × 1.5–3.8 cm, oblong to oblong-elliptic, ± rounded or acute at the apex but with a short mucro, rounded to cuneate at the base, sparsely to densely shortly pubescent on both surfaces; venation reticulate beneath, often drying reddish-brown; petiole 6–15 mm long; rhachis 3–14 mm long; petiolules 2–3 mm long; stipules (6)7–11 mm long, narrowly triangular-lanceolate, striate.

Herb with prostrate or decumbent stems 15–30 cm long from a perennial stock, the roots tuberous near attachment with stem; tubers 2–7 × 0.4–1.5 cm, linear to fusiform, some ± horizontal; stems ridged, densely pubescent with hairs under 1 mm long.
Inflorescences axillary, the flowering part 1–4 × 1.5–2 cm, (2)10–15-flowered; peduncle 3–15 cm long, densely pubescent; pedicels 1.5 mm long, strongly deflexed; bracts 4–7 × 1.2 mm, lanceolate with long linear tips, ± persistent.
Calyx pubescent; tube 1.5–2.5 mm long; lobes 2.5–4(6) mm long, triangular-lanceolate, the lowest narrow; standard yellow or orange-yellow, marked brown outside, 9–11 × 7 mm, obovate, densely pubescent.
Pods 15–9 mm, oblong, apiculate, covered with long white or pale ferruginous hairs.
