Perennial herb with several to many decumbent or ascending shoots 10–45 cm. long from a woody rootstock.. Branches brown, densely to sparsely covered with ± spreading, often twisted, long silvery hairs.. Leaflets 3, elliptic, obovate or obovate-elliptic, 1·2–4·1 cm. long, 0·4–1·4 cm. wide, acute or rounded but mucronulate at the apex, rounded or cuneate at the base, both sides laxly pilose with adpressed silvery-grey twisted hairs; petioles ± 2 mm. long; rhachis very short or obsolete; stipules brown, lanceolate, up to 9 mm. long, 2 mm. wide, densely veined.. Inflorescences fairly numerous, axillary, (1–)2–4-flowered; peduncles 1–1·2(–3 in fruit) cm. long; pedicels 1–3(–5 in fruit) mm. long.. Calyx covered with long silvery hairs, 5–8 mm. long; lobes lanceolate, drawn out at their tips, longer than the tube.. Corolla yellow streaked with dark red; standard oblong-obovate, ± 9 mm. long, 8·5 mm. wide, finely pubescent outside.. Pods oblong, 1·4–2 cm. long, 8–9 mm. wide, rather laxly pilose with long silvery, ferruginous or golden hairs..
