Characteristics

Leaves 1-foliolate; leaflet 2.7–7(8) × 1.9–5 cm, ovate, ovate-oblong or almost round, acute to rounded and apiculate at the apex, cordate, rather sparsely pubescent and glandular above, pubescent on the nerves beneath, some of the hairs being glandular-based; margin ciliate; venation raised beneath; petiole 1.5–4 mm long; petiolule 0.5–2 mm long; stipules 4–7 × 1–2.5 mm, linear or linear-lanceolate, covered with long hairs, short hairs and glands, veined.

Racemes terminal and axillary, the flowering part 2.5–5 × 1.5 cm; peduncle (2)3.5–9 cm long, with an indumentum similar to that on the stem; pedicels 1–2 mm long; bracts deciduous, 5–7 × 1–2 mm, linear-lanceolate to lanceolate, hairy and glandular.
Stems very leafy (or in one variety less so), covered with long spreading hairs, short hairs and conspicuous yellow glandular-based hairs, the latter often very dense.
Calyx 6–8 mm long with short pubescence and dense covering of yellow glandular-based hairs; lobes linear-lanceolate, 1.5–3 times as long as the tube.
Standard yellow, sometimes with some purple veining outside, 7–9.5 × 5–6 mm, obovate, pubescent and with numerous glandular-based hairs.
Erect perennial herb with a single sparsely branched stem, 0.3–0.8 m tall, from a slender woody root; all aerial parts sticky.
Pods 1–1.2 × 0.8–1 cm, obliquely elliptic or oblong, with long hairs 2–3 mm long and also some shorter glandular hairs.
Seeds dark brown, 4–5 × 2–2.5 × 1 mm, narrowly oblong; rim aril cream-coloured.
