Erect perennial herb with ? a single sparsely branched or unbranched stem, 5–35(not exceeding 17 in Flora area) cm. tall, from a thick woody rootstock ± 2·5 cm. wide.. Stems with sparse foliage covered with silvery-grey adpressed pubescence, rarely flowering when leaves are rather undeveloped.. Leaves 1-foliolate (rarely 3-foliolate in Nigeria); leaflet paler beneath, elliptic, 2·8–8 cm. long, 0·8–1·4 cm. wide, acute or subacute but apiculate at the apex, cuneate or narrowly rounded at the base, finely pubescent above, densely pubescent beneath with uniformly silver-grey hairs hiding the scattered glands; petiole 1·5–6 mm. long; petiolule 1·5–2 mm. long; stipules 7–8 mm. long, 1–2 mm. wide, pubescent, veined.. Racemes axillary; rhachis 1·5–3·5 cm. long; peduncle 1–5 cm. long; pedicels 2·5 mm. long, deflexed; bracts deciduous, lanceolate, 3·5 mm. long, 1 mm. wide, pubescent.. Calyx reddish-brown, pubescent and glandular, 3·5–5 mm. long; lobes lanceolate, slightly longer than the tube.. Standard yellow with reddish-brown flush outside, obovate, 0·9–1·2 cm. long, 5–7 mm. wide, densely pubescent.. Pods oblong-elliptic, 1–1·2 cm. long, (6·5–)8–9 mm. wide, covered with long yellow hairs ± 2 mm. long and small yellow glands..
