Characteristics

Erect perennial herb with several sparsely branched or unbranched stems 30–40 cm. tall from a woody rootstock.. Stems slender, covered with a dense pale brown to ferruginous pubescence.. Leaves 1-foliolate; leaflet paler beneath, elliptic to lanceolate, 3–13 cm. long, 1–4 cm. wide, acute at the apex, narrowed to a rounded base, margins sometimes slightly wavy, pubescent above, velvety pubescent beneath with adpressed tangled white hairs on the surfaces between the main nerves which have straight ferruginous hairs, the difference between the two colours being quite striking in the dry state; petiole 3–5 mm. long; petiolules 2 mm. long; stipules 6–10 mm. long, 1–2 mm. wide, hairy, veined.. Racemes axillary; rhachis 1·5–2·5 cm. long; peduncle 4–11 cm. long, ferruginous pubescent; pedicels 2 mm. long; bracts deciduous, not seen.. Calyx pubescent and glandular, 3·5–5 mm. long; lobes narrowly triangular, slightly longer than the tube.. Corolla described as yellow or two shades of yellow; standard obovate, 9 mm. long, 5 mm. wide, densely pubescent.. Pod rounded-oblong, 1·2 cm. long, 8·5 mm. wide, covered with rather long hairs 0·5–1 mm. long, and also short hairs and glands.. Seeds not seen.
