Characteristics

Male flowers: pedicels up to 1 cm long, slender, glabrous, jointed at the base; buds 1.5–2.5 mm in diameter, subglobose, scarcely apiculate, subtruncate at the base, glabrous; calyx lobes 4–5, 2–2.5 × 1–2 mm, triangular-ovate, acute or subacute, pale green; extrastaminal glands 10–15, minute, rounded, hair-tipped; interstaminal glands numerous, smaller than the extrastaminal ones; stamens 25–40, 12–15 outer, the rest central, less than 1 mm long, anthers yellowish-white.

Leaf blades 4–6 × 1.5–3 cm, elliptic-lanceolate, cuspidate-acuminate apically, minutely and somewhat irregularly denticulate on the margins, cuneate to rounded at the base, membranaceous, sparingly pubescent on upper surface, more evenly so beneath, especially along the midrib and main nerves, dull green, drying brownish-green; lateral nerves in c. 5 pairs, ascending, somewhat irregularly looped, not prominent above, scarcely so beneath.
Female flowers: pedicels 1–2 mm long, glabrous, jointed near the base; calyx lobes 2, 1–1.5 × 1.5–2 mm, transversely ovate, obtuse, glabrous, yellow-green; disk urceolate, 2-lobed; ovary 1–1.5 mm in diameter, 2-lobed, glabrous; styles 2, 1 mm long, united at the base, divaricate-spreading, later recurved, stigmas ± smooth.
Female inflorescences 2–3 cm long, the peduncle up to 2 cm long, racemose, 4–6-flowered, sparingly pubescent; bracts 0.5 mm long, triangular-ovate, acute, glabrous.
Male inflorescences c. 2 cm long, with peduncles c. 1 cm long, racemose, few-flowered, pubescent; bracts minute, subulate, glabrous.
Fruit 5–6 × 9–10 mm, didymous, glabrous, pale green. Columella laterally compressed.
Seeds 5–6 mm in diameter, shallowly foveolate-reticulate; aril bright orange.
Stipules 0.5 mm long, conical, obtuse, shiny, yellowish-brown.
