Petioles 3–10(–15) mm. long, sometimes with 1–2 small depressed-conical glands at the top; leaf-blade ovate, ovate-lanceolate or elliptic-lanceolate, (1–)2–10(–14) cm. long, (0.5–)1–5(–7) cm. wide, obtusely acuminate at the apex, rounded to cuneate at the base, coarsely to shallowly glandular-crenate, dentate or subentire, membranous, lateral nerves 4–5 pairs, ascending, looped or not, scarcely prominent above, slightly so beneath, sparingly pubescent and more evenly so along the midrib and main veins above, evenly to densely pubescent especially on the midrib and main veins beneath, green, not becoming purplish.. Stipules scarcely aculeate and indurated, 0.5–0.7 mm. long, conical or conical-cylindric, slightly accrescent, yellowish brown.. Male inflorescences simply racemose, 1–3 cm. long; peduncle and axis evenly puberulous or patent-pubescent; bracts 0 or minute, linear and very fugacious..
